Privacy Policy
Last updated:
PrivacyStage is built around a simple principle: your screen is yours. This policy explains exactly what data exists as a result of using or buying PrivacyStage, why, and where it lives. There's less here than in most software privacy policies, because the app itself doesn't send your screen, your windows, or your usage anywhere.
1. What the app does locally (nothing leaves your Mac)
PrivacyStage requests macOS Screen Recording permission to capture the windows you tag and render them onto a virtual display, which you then share yourself in a video call. This capture and rendering happens entirely on your Mac. We do not receive, store, or have any access to your screen contents, window contents, tags, or usage of the app. There is no telemetry or analytics in the app or on this website.
2. What we do collect
| Data | Why | Where it's stored |
|---|---|---|
| Your email and name | Embedded in your license key so it can be verified offline, and used to email the key to you after purchase | In the license key itself (on your Mac); in our license-activation database (Cloudflare Workers KV) for support lookups |
| A device identifier (your Mac's hardware UUID) | To enforce that a license activates on one Mac at a time | Cloudflare Workers KV, alongside the license record above |
| Payment details (card number, billing address, etc.) | To process your purchase | Never touches our servers. Paddle.com Market Ltd, our payment processor and merchant of record, collects and processes this directly — see Paddle's privacy policy. |
| Your email (for delivery only) | To send your license key after purchase | Passed to Resend, our transactional email provider, solely to deliver that one email — see Resend's privacy policy |
3. What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking pixels, or cookies on this website beyond what's strictly needed to load the page (there currently are none)
- No selling, renting, or sharing your data with advertisers
- No account system — there's nothing to create, and nothing tied to an identity beyond your license key
4. How long we keep it
License and device-activation records are kept for as long as your license is active, so we can help if you need to move it to a new Mac or have a billing question. If you'd like your record deleted, email us and we'll remove it — note this will deactivate your license, since the app checks against that record to enforce the one-device limit.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data (for example, under GDPR if you're in the EU/UK, or CCPA if you're a California resident). Contact us at the email below for any of these requests — since we collect very little data to begin with, most requests are quick to fulfill.
6. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
